Mrs. Sujayalakshmi Sheshu, Principal, Indus International Community School (IICS)
Bangalore is a graduate in Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Education. She has teaching
experience of over 30 years covering the IB (PYP, MYP), IGCSE, State Syllabus, CBSE,
and ICSE. She is trained in the IB programme (MYP) and also has teaching experience
of nine years in this curriculum.
Her active roles at Indus International School, Bangalore (IISB) include MSP coordinator,
MSP-CAS coordinator, a mentor to ITARI, Activity Coordinator, and teaching Maths
for MSP grades. In all these roles, she has contributed significantly in streamlining
the systems, procedures, documentation, curriculum and effective utilisation of
resources. As the Activities Coordinator, she assisted in the concept of the Junior
Achievement Programme for the all-round development of the students. She is a strict
disciplinarian, caring administrator and capable of handling complex issues with
ease. She has excellent leadership qualities, a positive attitude and collaborative
approach and believes in Team Work. She maintains a good rapport with the students,
teachers, staff, parents and school authorities. She has a keen eye for details
and constantly strives for perfection in all her activities.
Mrs. Sujayalakshmi Sheshu has been instrumental in turning around IICS, by changing
the attitude and approach of the teachers, students and staff, reorganising the
classes, defining teacher responsibilities, planning the curriculum, introduction
of Daily Lesson Plans (DLPs), walkthroughs for teachers, and teacher development.
In addition, she has introduced PE periods for all grades to give importance to
Sports, and induce the participation of students in competitions and Science Olympiads,
introduced Fast Track for Grade 9 students and Support for Grade 10 students through
specific teachers to mentor, support and monitor their students' performance. She
regularly interacts with the parents, to keep them abreast with their children’s
progress. Further, she has also streamlined the documentation and records of IICS,
with respect to admissions, teacher data, computerised report cards, attendance
and has introduced monthly awards for best attendance and punctuality.
To summarise, she aims to ensure the holistic development of her students towards
enriching their quality of life. She believes in setting high standards for academic
achievement, intellectual growth, ethical awareness and behaviour, sportsmanship
and the other good qualities of IICS students.
